Per ruling on March 18, 2020, out-of-state physicians, and physician assistants with a license in good standing in another state will not need an Idaho license to provide telehealth to patients located in Idaho during the response to COVID19. Prescribing controlled substances via telehealth must always comply with Federal law and HHS guidance related to COVID-19.

Status: Permanent, according to Gov. Little’s June 22 EO, out-of-state providers will be allowed to provide telemedicine to Idaho residents permanently, effective January 2021 (“State agencies are now tasked with finalizing those rule changes for presentation to the state Legislature next January”). The emergency waivers are active until the end of the COVID-19 emergency, which ended 4/24/21.
